How long does it take for a cashiers or certified check to clear in the UK form the US?

forever .. almost

the problem is that you are liable if the item turns out to be forged, stolen, or simply completely fake. That might take weeks to months to discover. and the information is negative -- you aren't informed if/when everything goes right but will be dunned weeks to months later if things aren't right.

don't take checks from people you don't know and have done business with before. if you're new to international trade, insist on wire transfers and/or trade acceptances. Ask your banker for details.
