There is a very very small button pressed in a held for a couple seconds.

On my GF's Accord it is located on the inside wall of the dash near the right knee.

If memory servres me it's on a little plastic box about 1 1/4'; square. How to clear check engine light?
you cant clear it on your own. you need to take it to a mechanic so they can scan the car see why the code is coming up then they can clear it. it could be a million different things from a bad gas cap to and electrical problem. start with going to a mechanic and they can figure it out for you.
It depends on wahts wrong with it, Go get it checked out the most of the time they'll sell a bypass switch for that certain line. But if i was you i'd rather fix it then just ignore it, dont let a little problem turn into a big EXPENSIVE one :)
you have to have a diagnostic run and get the technician to clear it for you. It's probably and O2 sensor acting wonky.
I don't know about an '86, but most AutoZone's have a machine that will tell you what it means. Some will even reset it for you if it's something minor like your gas cap not being on tight (that happens on my Dodge Durango every now and then).
