What part of a check should i not fill out if I do not want it to clear for the person right away?

I dont want the check to clear for the person right away because I am buying something from him that i am unsure about. I boguht a vending machine and the guy told me it collects 100 dollars a week, but i think he may be lieing. So i dont want to get robbed from my money and want to see if the machines collect 100 dollars in the week i have thme before i actually transfer the money to the guy. Thanks to anyone who can help. What part of a check should i not fill out if I do not want it to clear for the person right away?
Sorry, but either he'll notice and make you fix the check right away (or the bank will tell him and he'll come back to you), or the check will go through anyway (because the bank might not notice or care that you left anything out).

There is no specific thing you can leave off a check that will delay it but have it eventually go through. Either it will never go through, or it will go through without delay anyway. What part of a check should i not fill out if I do not want it to clear for the person right away?
If you are unsure about it then don't do it.

You can't give him a check and do anything to the check that would delay the processing.

Short of not completing the necessary parts of the check.... and even that has little effect with the banks lately. they only see the account number and the amount... their machines barely pay attention to whom it is made out to or who signed it and definitely don't pay attention to the date you put on the check.

The only thing you can do... is talk him into giving you the vending machine for a trial period of one week to prove to you that it really makes this much money in profits in a week. If he is right you pay him and if he is wrong then you turn over the profits of that week and give him the machine back.

Put it in writing...
You are on a slippery slope here friend. It is against the LAW to give a check that you have no intent to honor. You may do this - you may PREDATE the check - so that you put the date on the check in the correct place - at least 2 weeks in advance, but the seller may not accept that term. If you doubt that this fellow is telling you the truth about collecting 100 per machine, than don't buy the machine. There will be other

sellers around, that you may feel are not lying to you about the return. ';Crevat Emptor'; Let the buyer beware.
You are doomed to fail in business if this is how you are starting out.

If you don't believe this guy, then don't buy his vending route.

If you give him a check, no matter what omissions or mistakes are on there, he will put it in his bank and cash it.
You don't want to get robbed, but you want to rob somebody else right?

What you want to do with your check is illegal.
U can try to post date it, but not all bank tellers are smart, so it could still go through. Just tell the guy that there wont b any money in your account till next week.
