How long does it take for an out of state check to clear when deposited into a california account?

That goes to bank policy in most cases. However they may hold the funds for up to 10 business days. Most will not do that but I would count on at least 5 business days before ALL funds are available.





They are required to make the first 100.00 available on any check deposit within 24 hours. After that it goes to their policies as to the amount of time to hold the funds.

With the computerized electronic transfer system banks use, checks are suppose to clear in 24 hours, however your bank may still require 3 days. Best to ask them their policy.
