Funds from a check are released depending on the the routing number.

If you had deposited a government/state check it would clear immediately, those are as good as cash. Other types of checks are generally classified as local/non local and depending on the amount those can take 1-5 business days to clear. Non-local checks take longer to clear than local checks.

Business days are days when the Federal Bank is opened. That does not include weekends or holidays.

Next time you deposit a check, ask the teller when it will clear. $100 is always cleared the day after the transaction and the rest depends on how much the check is for. You can call Chase and have them tell you when your funds will be available. How long does a check take to clear in a chase account?
Depends on your bank, how much the check was for, or if it was written on an out of state bank etc. Lots of reasons they would not let you access the funds (in a way it is to protect you) until they can be verified.

Check with your bank and see when the funds might be available. Some can take up to 10 business days.
It can take 1 day or 5 days, depending on the clearing house.
