troubleshooting please!!My dryer takes like 3 cycles to adequately dry the clothes.. how do i check the vent? the lint trap is clear?
I had this EXACT same problem!

Check the heating element. It could have been damaged and needs to be replaced. When the heating element doesn't work, it won't heat the air and it takes forever to ';air'; dry your clothes. You can call Sears and have someone check it out if you don't know how to do it yourself. I believe you have to turn it on it's side because it's on the bottom. You can check the vents first to be sure that isn't the problem.

Ours shorted out because of a faulty ground line in the electrical work. Good luck!My dryer takes like 3 cycles to adequately dry the clothes.. how do i check the vent? the lint trap is clear?
I would first look outside where the dryer vents out. If the flaps are covered with lint, clean it out. If it's still doing it then you'll have to remove the back tubing on the dryer (silver usually) and clean it out. If it's still doing it, perhaps your washer is not wringing it out enough or you have put too much in the dryer.

If nothing works I'd consider getting a new dryer.
Absolutely you should pull out the dryer and check the vent to make sure it is not clogged. Certainly if you are not getting a lot of lint in the lint trap, you have a blockage. Clear any blockage with a long wire or hose, make sure and get everything out. If there is no blockage, and you have an electric dryer, one of the heat elements is out. That would explain why it is taking so long to dry stuff- not enough heat.
I don't know if this will help or not, but I do know not a lot of people think of this, (I didn't until someone told me). Have you tried cleaning your lint trap with hot, soapy water and letting it thoroughly dry before replacing it? If you use dryer sheets they actually leave an invisible film on your lint trap that prevents the air from getting through. Many dryers have actually started on fire from this very thing. Just a quick, cheap option to check before spending a lot to have a repair man come out. Hope it helps!
get a duster from walmart or ur local store and stick it in slot where your lint trap is...you should be able to just scoop it out..thats usually the reason why it takes so long to dry..or you just have waaaay too many clothes in the dryer at once...ive learned that drying jeans or jean material takes even longer so i just hang dry mine then iron em. good luck oh and also if these dont work...it could be that your heating element is goin out so you can always just call a washer/dryer person to come check it out
Ever clean the lint trap?
