can u use it on the 25th when they deposit itIf you get a big tax refund back does that mean the bank will have to clear your check before it's available?
The IRS refund check that is direct deposited does NOT have to clear the bank. Once it's deposited into your account that morning, the funds should be readily available for you to use.If you get a big tax refund back does that mean the bank will have to clear your check before it's available?
you can use it the day it is deposited. Its a federal deposit, they are available once your bank receives the funds and they are in your account.
only your bank would have the actual answer to that

some banks hold 24hrs allowing you to have a minimal amount usually around $100

ive heard of other banks holding for 5 days

again you'll have to contact your personal financial institution to get an exact answer
If it's ACH'd for direct deposit it will be available immediately. If it's a paper check the bank's hold policy will apply. Most banks don't put a long hold on Federal Government checks but they most certainly CAN do so if it's their stated policy.
If you cash a check, you will have to wait about 2 days before you can actually spend it.

If you have to ask this question, I bet that you just can't wait to spend your refund away.
If it a federal or state check the bank has to make it available that same day. The bank's funds availabily rule would not apply to these checks.
