How long does a check take to clear?

I ordered something with a check online and the product will be sent when its cleared. Ive searched the question and have seen answers varying from a day to three days. Its been two days and they haven't sent a conformation. The site is legit, but I'm just curious. I'm going on vacation and need the product asap.

It all really depends on when the provider that offers the product decides to cash your check. Might be a few days to a few weeks. My wife paid off college books with a check and got cleared about 5 weeks later.

The product will be sent when the check POSTS. Checks don't actually clear. The seller will decide when THEY consider the check cleared.
