How long does it currently take peak time to check luggage in and clear security?





Is two hours before the flight takes off enough time for an international flight?Does anyone know how long it takes to check luggage in and clear security at Stanstead airport?
I went through Stansted on Thursday and got there about ten minutes before check in for my flight closed (i.e. 50 minutes before the flight.) No problems through security - took about 15 minutes, waited in the lounge for 5 minutes and went to board the plane. I fly through there a lot and it's usually no problem. Worst case scenario - you're in a queue at security with 20 minutes to go before your flight departs, you can always tell a member of staff and they'll let you jump the queue. It's not a big airport and the furthest gates are only 8 minutes or so from security.





Security is not the issue - if you get there in time to check in, then you'll make the flight. Most check-ins at Stansted end 40 minutes before the flight. It's not in the airline's interest to have you checked in with baggage and then miss your flight - they have to take off your luggage and this delays the flight.





As long as you make the check in you're fine.





Sometimes I think people get too hung up about the security side of things and forget that airports are primarily about getting people from A to B with as little hassle as possible. If you go to the airport 2 hours before your flight you'll just end up waiting around for 1 1/2 hours buying overpriced fast food and sitting on uncomfortable benches snapping at your family.Does anyone know how long it takes to check luggage in and clear security at Stanstead airport?

its 1 hour and half, but with the orange alert being still on, i go there in 2 hours, and rember the new policy on liquids and gels, 1 small glad bag, 3 onzes or less , it has to fit in the bag comfortable with space. and no lighters but u are allowed 4 packs of matches.
International Flights require a minimum check in time of 1 1/2 hours, that is for passport and travel documents verification, your luggage is checked by security even more than on domestic flights.Also airlines have to match every single piece of luggage with their owner and verify the passenger gets on the aircraft or else the luggage gets pulled.


Time frame for check in and clear security is hard to predict, remember there is no such thing as peak time. It all depends on the number of passengers going thru the check in process and how fast they put away their items prior to clear security.
