if the check is from california or texas and i live in ohio. if so can i take a little money out of the bank when i put the check in?How long does it take for an out of state check to clear?
Most banks allow $100 to be withdrawn immediately upon deposit. The size of the check also can impact the length of hold, as well as your standing at your bank. It has been my experience that deposits done at ATM's are cleared overnight and are less likely to have holds placed on them. However, if your bank requires that the check physically clear the bank on which it was written in order to release the funds, expect a 10 day hold.
The other option is to find a check cashing company that will cash an out of state check or better yet, go to the bank from which the check was written if you can.
