How long does it take for a check to clear in a bank account?

My tax return check was direct deposited to my account on Friday March 7 2008. When i go to check the tax refund status on irs.gov website it saids My check was direct deposited March 7th. How long does it take for that check to clear??How long does it take for a check to clear in a bank account?

If it truly was sent to the bank on March 7th, the funds should be available on the 8th.





So if it's not showing up on your account, you best make sure the IRS had all your correct checking account info such as routing number and account number.





Otherwise, just wait a little longer, they may have PREPARED your check on the 7th but might actually transmit it today or something.
