How long does it take for Bank of America to clear a check?

Bank of America ATM check deposits: how long does it take to clear?

I'm writing a check from my non BOA checking account and depositing it into my BOA checking account through the ATM. The ATM scans the checks electronically. Does that constitute an electronic transfer? Does that mean that the money comes out of my other non-boa checking account immediately? I remember usually it takes a few days for everything to clear. If they electronically scan, expect it to only take about 48 hours or 2 business days.

How soon it is credited for use to your account is another matter altogether. How long does it take for Bank of America to clear a check?
It really depends on the bank the check is from. A local bank check would probably clear within a couple days. But an out of state bank might take longer. It definitely won't be an immediate transfer.

Just because the ATM scams the check and prints a copy as part of your receipt, does not mean it's an electronic transfer. It's just a record of your deposit.

If it's critical, call the bank and ask when the funds will be available.
