How long does it take for a cleared check to be verified as valid, if deposited in the same bank as check?

I have a chase checking acct and just deposited a check from someone over 10k. How long will it take for it to clear and be verified as authentic?

I do not want to go ahead and take the money out, use it, and perhaps find out the account had no fundsHow long does it take for a cleared check to be verified as valid, if deposited in the same bank as check?
I'm not sure if it's only a New York thing, but I think there was a law or something called Check 21 that just got passed. With that law, ANY check can and will get cleared within 2 days or something.

Good luck. How long does it take for a cleared check to be verified as valid, if deposited in the same bank as check?
If the check you deposited is from another account at the same bank (Chase), you should be able to access the fund without having to wait because the bank can verify the funds are available. Unfortunately, some banks still put holds on these type of checks, just like they do with checks from other banks. The best thing to do is to contact Chase to check their policy.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
if u deposit a commerce check into a commerce account it will become available right away, dont worry you can trust me i am a banker

  • How long does it take for a check to clear completely?

i have a check I deposited and want to make sure check clears my bank and the bank the check was writen onHow long does it take for a check to clear completely?
It can take from the second you deposit it, up to a couple of days after... It just depends on the bank. How long does it take for a check to clear completely?
Legally, they are supposed to clear checks in 5 business days. However, on another question URL recently, it came out that if a check is bad, it may take nearly two weeks to find it out. This has involved such things as sales over the web, people have received large checks, waited 5 days then taken the money, then later were ordered to re-pay the money, thus became victims of scams and lost their sale money.

My employer's payroll check did not clear, I suffered over $500 in overdraft fees. does he have to pay this?

My boss's check did not clear when I deposited it, and it took a while for me to catch on. I have accrued over $500 in overdrafts from this. Is he responsible for the fees?My employer's payroll check did not clear, I suffered over $500 in overdraft fees. does he have to pay this?
Did the check bounce? My employer's payroll check did not clear, I suffered over $500 in overdraft fees. does he have to pay this?
Nope. You are responsible for managing your own finances.
If you can prove that the fees would not have otherwise been in exsistence then yes, I would show him/her the fees and tell your boss you need them to be reimburst in full by cashiers check from him/her... (I would record the conversation so you have something for court...) and I also would tell your ';boss'; to only pay you by cashiers checks so you know this won't happen again... and if there is a huge problem with this and your boss becomes an issue I would find another job (either way I would), if your boss won't fix it then take him to small claims court and bring all your proof and also make sure to include court costs to sure him for, because if (and he will) he is found to be responsible for them all then he will be able to be responsible for the court costs... if this happened for months then the judge may say you should have noticed, if it was a few weeks you may get it all your way...
You might get a judge to see it your way. At least the initial fee, but since you freely admit you let it get worse, probably not all.

But, here is your reality check, your boss is on the verge of bankruptcy and if he can't cover your paycheck, he isn't paying payroll taxes either.

By the time you get to court I imagine that there won't be any money left to get out of him.

Good luck in your job search.
I'm not a lawyer but it would seem to me that a relationship that exists between employer and employee is the tacit guarantee that you will work for that person whatever hours that you mutually agree to and that the company will pay you whatever wages were mediated upon signing up with that company. Given that, if you have met your obligation and worked those hours, the employer has the obligation to pay whatever wages you mutually agreed upon. It seems to me that you might have a breech of contract because he did not pay you the wages that were owed to you, even if he didn't know that the check was going to bounce. Check with your lawyer on this.
No. But he owes you the check amount and any ';bounced check'; fee. Overdrafts are your problem.
You didnt manager your bank account incorrectly, your employer did! I have had this happen to me and if you call the bank you below to and explain the situtation, they can possible take off some of those fee's. This is, of course, if you have not had any overdraft fees in the past year.

Definitely call and check. The bank may be able to help you out a bit.
I don't know specifically if he responsible for the overdraft fees. He is however responsible for paying any and all wages due on your paydays. You can take him to small claims court and sue for 3 times the amount of your pay. I would certainly contact the state labor department and ask them what the proper way to handle this.

Quick books... By error I deleted a check that was already clear what are my options?

I know that when there is a deposit and a check that is already cleared we can not delete it I did by mistake I wanted to delete another one ...what I can do?Quick books... By error I deleted a check that was already clear what are my options?
Re-enter the check and mark it cleared. This takes about 1 minute in Quicken. Quicken and QuickBooks use the same core program, so it should be as easy in both.

Note: You obviously CAN delete a cleared check. The fact you DID is proof of that.Quick books... By error I deleted a check that was already clear what are my options?
I JUST did this a second ago...I was reconciling and there were some paychecks that aren't cleared so stupid me thought ';oh I'll just delete them';...well I don't know what's wrong with me but I got a little delete happy. Anyways, I think you can do a discrepancy report (Reports-Banking-Reconciliation Discrepancy) and it will show you what checks you deleted. Oi!

As all HDFC cheques are 'payable at par at all centres';. it should not take more than 3 (three) days to en cash and be deposited in your A/c.

All Cheques in the Metro centres are cleared within three days max.
